It has always been somewhat of a fantasy among both scientists and laymen to have the ability to read minds. A recent groundbreaking discovery in the realm of neuroscience was made at the University of California Berkeley regarding this reverie; neuroscientists at Berkley managed to record the electrical activity in the brain as participants listened to a song by Pink Floyd and reconstructed the song to listen.

This experiment was originally conducted by using electrodes to record the electric conductivity in the auditory cortex of patients with epilepsy, being prepared for surgical procedures, and listening to the Pink Floyd song at the Albany Medical Center. However, it was unknown as to whether it was possible to reconstruct these electrical conductivity recordings, and this data was not used until approximately ten years later.

The results from this research act as a breakthrough for the field of neuroscience as they can be applied in various ways, such as helping those who are nonverbal to communicate in a tone that withholds more musicality than other communication devices produce.
